GAMES IN TIMELINE ORDER

Set before the original God of War (2005) game, Ascension follows Kratos as he battles the Furies, ancient guardians of honor and retribution, in his quest to break free from his oath to Ares.

Taking place a couple of years after the events from Ascension, now a servant to the Gods of Olympus, Chains of Olympus follows Kratos as he battles various mythological creatures and faces the Persian forces in order to save the world from imminent destruction.

The original game of the series introduces us to Kratos, a Spartan warrior who seeks revenge against the God of War, Ares, for tricking him into killing his family. Kratos embarks on a journey to defeat Ares and rid himself of the nightmares that haunt him from his sins.

Set after the events of God of War (2005), Ghost of Sparta follows Kratos as he searches for his brother, Deimos, and uncovers a dark truth about his past while battling various mythical creatures and gods.

Taking place shortly after Ghost of Sparta, Betrayal follows Kratos as he battles enemies from Greek mythology while trying to clear his name after being framed for the murder of Argos.

Continuing the story, Kratos seeks revenge against Zeus, the king of the gods, after he is betrayed and stripped of his godly powers. Kratos embarks on a quest to find the Sisters of Fate and change his destiny.

The final chapter of the Greek series sees Kratos on a mission to destroy the Gods of Olympus, including his ultimate target, Zeus. Kratos battles his way through titans and gods, seeking vengeance and closure.

A soft sequel of God of War III, this game follows an older Kratos who has moved to the realm of Norse mythology. He accompanies his son, Atreus, on a journey to scatter his wife’s ashes and ends up entangled in a conflict with Norse gods and creatures.
